Resumen:

El siguiente trabajo aborda la noción de ‘primitivismo’ como proyecto arquitectónico y como propuesta política y social en el marco de lo que en los años sesenta pudo entenderse como ‘el futuro,’ a través de las ideas y propuestas de Reyner Banham y Superstudio. El artículo pretende hacer énfasis en la paradójica búsqueda de una transformación social por medio de la arquitectura que permitiría recuperar la pureza del modo de vida primitivo utilizando una alta tecnología. Se recurre a imágenes originales de los proyectos utópicos en cuestión, y a aproximaciones conceptuales extraídas de los escritos de los autores, combinadas con fuentes historiográficas que dan cuenta de los condicionantes propios del período. El trabajo permite vislumbrar la innegable importancia del marco económico, político y social de la década de los sesenta, a través del cual la combinación paradójica de la tecnología y el primitivismo se hace posible, poniendo en crisis el ‘objeto arquitectónico’ como tal.

Brief:

The following work deals with the notion of 'primitivism' as an architectural project and as a political and social proposal within the framework of what in the 1960s could be understood as 'the future', through the ideas and proposals of Reyner Banham and Superstudio. The paper aims to emphasize the paradoxical search for a social transformation by means of architecture that would restore the purity of the primitive way of life using the technology. Original images of the utopian projects in question and conceptual approaches drawn from the writings of the authors are used, combined with historiographical sources that give account of the conditioning factors of the period. The work allows us to glimpse the undeniable importance of the economic, political and social framework of the sixties, through which the paradoxical combination of technology and primitivism becomes possible, putting in crisis the 'architectural object' as such.
